In Quiet Transformation
Photographed during the transitional weeks of early spring in southern Norway, this aerial series captures frozen lakes in different stages of thaw and refreeze. Some surfaces remained fully sealed by ice, while others had begun to break open at the edges—or were almost entirely clear. Snowdrifts, fractures, and semi-transparent layers created intricate, shifting structures across the ice.
What struck me was how quickly the visual character changed from one lake to the next—often just a short drive apart. Each responded differently to temperature, wind, and elevation. With no clear sense of scale, the formations appear abstract and weightless, suspended between stillness and change.
