Kötlujökull: Landscape in Transition
Kötlujökull is an outlet glacier of Mýrdalsjökull in southern Iceland and is largely covered with a thick layer of black ash from previous volcanic eruptions. Kötlujökull is named after the powerful (and still active) volcano Katla, which is partially covered by the Mýrdalsjökull glacier.
