Dramatic landscape photography by Jan Erik Waider;
capturing the raw stillness of the Nordic countries.
Time and again and sometimes in the middle of nowhere, while traveling through Iceland one comes across abandoned places like farms or factories. Those stand tall against the harsh weather conditions and seem somewhat displaced, as if someone had simply forgotten them while time came to a standstill. Inside those buildings, we often find personal belongings that remind us of previous lives and living. In this way, the impressive beauty is paired with a certain heaviness and melancholy sadness.
