Frozen Colors of Winter
My focus as a landscape photographer is clearly on abstract perspectives, especially concerning water and ice: landscapes that are constantly changing and never look the same on any given day. I spend a lot of time in countries like Iceland and Greenland, but winter can also lead to incredibly exciting compositions in Germany with the necessary frost, especially in the macro field of photography. In contrast to Iceland, there is a lot more vegetation and trees, and therefore a plethora of colors in the ice: frozen leaves from autumn, grasses, or pine cones.
I love walking along frozen watercourses for hours with my camera, searching for exciting details in the ice. For many motifs, you simply have to take your time, as it's easy to overlook them in passing. For me, this search has an almost meditative quality, and the motifs created on my doorstep have a special meaning for me. Because I don't just want to show the world from my perspective, I also want to motivate people to do the same. You don't necessarily need expensive photographic equipment for this, as almost every modern smartphone is very well-suited for macro photography in particular.
