Dramatic landscape photography by Jan Erik Waider;
capturing the raw stillness of the Nordic countries.
When you take the three-day ferry ride from Denmark to Iceland, it becomes strikingly clear how distant and remote this group of islands actually is. About two-thirds of the way, I pass through the Faroe Islands on my way farther north. The pyramid-shaped mountains are everywhere, and in April and May their snow-covered summits provide rich and almost surreal contrasts.
